A Trainee Production Manager is required for F & R Cawley Ltd offering a salary of £21,000 to £23,000 per annum, based in Luton.

The Company:

Cawleys is a third-generation family business and has been operating for over 60 years. We collect, sort, treat and recycle waste, specialising in eco technologies for areas such as Hazardous Waste, Food Waste Recycling and Anaerobic Digestion.

Job purpose:

To monitor record and help improve the production and efficiency of 3 No Materials Recycling Facilities and a fleet of 90 HGV’s, focusing on continuous improvement in efficiency, health and safety performance and cost reduction.

Key responsibilities:

• Utilising existing and new reports and spreadsheets, reporting weekly performance for the operating businesses to Recycling Manager and the MD.
• Investigate and report on any potential improvements to those operations.
• Visit each operating site weekly to measure and record material quantities.
• Continually develop the reporting on performance and provide relevant management information.
• Oversee the operation of excel based performance measurement tools.
• Carry out research of competitors and potential suppliers.
• Develop and maintain reporting on machine and plant defects.
• Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development.
• Assist with the training, development and management of staff within operational departments.
• Attend training as and when required to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
• Develop capability of the MRF’s.
• Ensure health and safety procedures, systems and training are maintained.
• Along with management team, aim to develop the MRF’s in to industry recognised centres of excellence.

Skills required:

• Able to work on his/her own initiative.
• The ability to work with people at all levels of the business.
• A full clean driving licence.
• Comfortable to working in close proximity to waste recycling.
• Of a practical nature being able to interpret data to influence mechanical output.
• Flexible on working hours.
• Possess a strong desire to develop a career in recycling.

Qualifications and Previous Experience:

• Degree qualified in a science, IT or maths based subject.
• An “expert” user of excel, running macro’s and graphical outputs.
• Previous experience in a data analysis and or recycling role is an advantage.

Salary:

• £21,000 to £23,000 per annum depending on experience.
